Europa Club 25th Anniversary Celebrations 23 June 2018

The year 2018 is the 25th anniversary of the first flight of the production Europa and the club has chosen to celebrate this with a number of special events around the world. In the UK we are holding a Fly In, Barbecue Lunch, AGM, Presentation by Ivan Shaw and our Annual Dinner at Turweston Airfield, EGBT, all on 23 June 2018. We anticipate that this is going to be a very enjoyable event and very much hope that a record number will manage to come from both the UK and abroad to share it with us. The timetable of events is as follows:
                Barbecue Lunch from 12.30
                Annual General Meeting 14.30
                Tea 16.00
                Presentation by Ivan Shaw 16.30
Europa Club Bar opens in Marquee 17.30
Dinner in new Airport Restaurant 19.30
More details of the day’s arrangements follow here:
Barbecue: This will be prepared by the legendary Europa Club Barbecue Head Chef, Nigel Graham and his team. The cost will be £5.00 a head payable on the day. We shall require members to register for this ahead of times. We will not guarantee to be able to feed those who have not registered. Soft drinks, tea & coffee will be included.
AGM: This will take place in the club Marquee on the airfield. The agenda will be circulated in due course.
Tea: This will be provided free of charge.
Presentation by Ivan: Ivan is one of the country’s most entertaining speakers (or very possibly the most!) and he has kindly agreed to reminisce over all things Europa. Tickets should cost as much as a Rolling Stones concert, but are actually free. The talk will take place in the Marquee.
Bar: We shall be running our own bar in the marquee to fill the gap between Ivan’s talk and dinner and allow you to develop that mellow feeling with old friends.
Dinner: Full details are below. It will be held in the stunning new restaurant overlooking the lake at Turweston. We are clear that there is no other airfield restaurant in the UK which is nearly so attractive a venue! Places are limited to 70 so make sure you get your reservation in early.

Accommodation: 1. Hotels. There are a number of hotels within a reasonable distance but none in walking distance. We feel that the best option is:
Best Western Buckingham, A421 Buckingham Ring Road, Buckingham, MK18 1RY. We have reserved 9 twin rooms at £75/night and 3 double rooms at £70/night (breakfast £9/head extra). We will allocate these on a first come first served basis, and will arrange transport to and from this hotel. Other hotels are available of course but this one appeared to us to offer the best combination of quality and price. These rooms are cancellable until 48 hrs before time but anyone reserving one and cancelling within 48 hrs will be liable for the whole room charge. We will endeavour to provide transport to other hotels but cannot guarantee it and those staying elsewhere may need to resort to taxis.

Accommodation 2. Camping. Camping will be allowed on the airfield close to your aircraft or in the Marquee if preferred. Toilet, wash basin and shower facilities are available. No charge.

Transport to Hotels: We shall endeavour to provide transport to and from hotels for those needing it. This may be by minibus (for which a small charge) or in sober members’ cars.

Airfield matters: Normal landing charges will operate, (£12 for a two seat SEP & £5 overnight parking). Please note that PPR is required - tel 01280 705400. There is a 1256 metre hard runway 27/09 and a slightly shorter grass 27/09. There is also a shorter still 21/03 grass runway but this may well not be available without special arrangement. On the website you can see in the top picture the tower and restaurant building beyond the lake and the space at the extreme left where the marquee is due to be pitched.

Booking:  This is essential for the club to be able to organise everything. You can modify your details later if necessary.
