Europa Flyer

The Europa flyer is currently a full colour, 28 page magazine published three times a year by the Club.

The magazine is free to Club Members.

Non Members. Price on application.

The range of topics covered is wide from stories of flights and tours to technical information on building, owning and flying a Europa.

Every edition of the Europa Flyer is available below so you can also see how it has developed since 1994. Note that in some early editions some “Clip” art decorations have had to be removed from the scanned images.

May 2nd 2020: We are changing our policy on uploading the Europa Flyer from the situation of publishing, on the website, one issue in arrears to uploading the current copy as soon as the printed copy is received by our most distant member. For the avoidance of doubt Members may opt out of receiving the physical copy, however the dues remains the same” .Editor, The Europa Flyer

February 2023: The archived Europa Flyer magazines have been changed to "page turner" format. Hope you will agree, it is now easier to use and more intuitive with a crisp clicking sound as the electronic page folds over.

Coming Summer 2023: We are experimenting with an entirely on line version of the Europa Flyer following a review of results from the 2022 Membership Survey.

September 2023: The Europa Flyer is available to Members in two versions. The page turner version is accessed by clicking on the thumbnail below. From the page turner, there is a pdf version of the issue available by clicking on the three dots at the bottom of the page, and choosing "Download PDF File". You can download the issue so you can print desired pages or just read it at your leisure without needing to be online.

Clarification:
Issue 98 was during the Covid epidemic and issued as an on line only newsletter.
Issue 107 was the first true online only edition.

Issue 110 was the second online only edition.

I am Responsible for editing the Europa Club publication, the Europa Flyer.

This task can only be accomplished with the active support of members who take the time to write articles on trips or anything to do with the Europa build, flying, maintenance, modifications, news items et al. Without this support there would be no Europa Flyer.

Flying Experience

I started flying in 1959, soloing from Woodley just before its closure, and completed my PPL training at White Waltham in 1960/61.

I have owned Jodel D119 G-ATJN and rebuilt Piper L4 Cub G-AKTH from a basket case over 7 years in the late 80’s early 90’s. I own a share in a Jodel D9 and Europa Monowheel G-OMIK. Even so, building really plays havoc with one’s currency and I am now working hard to complete kit 353 to join the ranks of those happy Europa flyers.

Special Skills/Experience

I studied aircraft engineering and am a Chartered Engineer in Mechanical, Production and Measurement and Control Engineering. Most of my working career was spent with a major aircraft instrument and avionics company.

I lived in Brazil for 4 years setting up an instrument repair and support structure at the formation of Embraer and travelled extensively in development of my employer’s avionics and systems business. I also worked for several US aerospace companies before spending 12 years running my own consultancy business. During this time I worked with US aerospace and vehicle electronic system companies helping to develop their business in Europe.

Locality

I still fly from White Waltham where G-OMIK is kept and I am spending as much time as possible building my Europa at my residence in Bracknell, England.
