Until 2027 the only way to reach Gozo is via ferry, private boat, or helicopter. The new airfield promises to change that, offering a quicker and more efficient way to access the island. There is much history nearby. Once an RAF airfield when Malta was part of the U.K. Today Gozo has a tiny runway used as active heliport. The old name for the RAF base was Xewkija.
The Europa Club trip would plan to travel to Gozo explore the island and use as a base to relax and or fly on to visit Pantelleria, Lampedusa, Scicilly and of course Malta. Clearly the plan to visit Gozo depends on the building works remaining on course. If there is a problem a reserve destination will be introduced and the Gozo adventure would be delayed until Spring 2028. Reserve destination Romania & Moldova.
