Club Test and Setup Equipment - Loans
The Club carries/offers some specialist tools for loan based in the UK – for use by Members during build or operating their aircraft. Their safe use is entirely at the Loanees risk.
These tools are held by the Membership Secretary
and are available on demand, subject to availability. The Club pays the postage outbound, the Member pays the postage to return them. A condition of loan is that Members agree to replacing or paying for repair, of any tools lost or damaged – so please use a reputable postal or courier and a service that insures their value for loss in transit. The tools cache is under constant review/development and further/additional items are purchased by the Committee dependent on evidence of demand and/or perceived benefit to members.
In addition some Club members are willing to loan out specialist equipment they own (such as jigs which are only used once or rarely), on a 1-2-1 basis to other members. Contact the Club Secretary if you have a particular requirement or advertise your need/offer, on the Club WhatsApp group.

• 1off Brake riveting toolkit (donated by Member Alan Burrill)
• 1off SMART Avionics PB-1 Prop balancing tool(not particularly easy to use - though good for confirming the level of imbalance that exists). Carb balancing MUST be done first
• 1off 3.125” Tungsten Instrument hole saw (cuts wood/fibrelam only - NOT FOR METAL)
• 1off 16.5mm Parallel reamer for MOD72 - to prep the landing gear frame lugs for inserts
• 1off RS AT-6 Handheld Optical Tacho to confirm e.g. propeller RPM wrt RPM gauges
• 1off Fuel Flow setup/check kit (consists of pipework with isolation and bleed-off taps, a fuel pressure gauge – and for 914 engines, a small manifold sensor pressurisation pump.
• 2off SWR meters (Voltage and Power) for checking aerial setups/antenna length trimming
• 1off [newer] Twinmax Carburettor balancing kit#1 (variable sensitivity)
• 1off [older] Carbmate Carburettor balancing kit#2
• 1off Kit of 4 electrical cable tools, comprised of 1 pair RS 663-617 PRO 165 mm Wire Stripper, 1 pair Knipex 815-6404 Coaxial Cable Wirestrippers, 1 pair CK 30026 BNC/TNC Ratchet Crimp Pliersand 1 pair RS 533-279 Ratchet Terminal Crimp Pliers.
• 1off MOD71 (appendix) Welding jig to set up for modification of the stop tube and weld-reinforcements at their base -on of the TriGeararticulating frame.

Nick Kenney
My day career is channeled into architecture where I head up a design team constructing anything from domestic dream homes to designing school buildings, UK or overseas.
My studies took me through seven years of university for architecture and the built environment. Later, with a thirst to understand how all things work, I studied cosmology at Open University.
Flight Training & Experience
I guess aviation is in the blood. My father was a pilot and grandfather before him who served in the RAF.
I gained my PPL at the late, “Luton Flight Training” in the late 90s and went on to gain my night and IR(R) in the preceding years.
I have many type aircraft in the bag, but mainly flew a Piper Cherokee Lance for many years before later, embarking on my new found love of a Europa.
Aircraft
I purchased and imported my partially built Europa from the Netherlands in 2016. Three and a half years later of long evenings, weekends and a very understanding Saffron, I now own and fly my trigear G-NICX (AKA Dilly) based at Southend.
In 2021 I progressed G-NICX through the LAA night/IFR approval system. This has led to newly opened doors and flying experiences.
I now enjoy touring with and without Saffron on some of the more wider reaching club trips across Europe where every day is with out a doubt, a school day. This has rewarded me with some fantastic banked memories.
G-NICX is equipped with a 100hp Rotax 912is, Dynon SkyView 10” suite along with 8.33 com, transponder, ADSB in/out, backup Kanardia Horris EFIS unit, Airmaster VP prop, 2 x axis autopilot, iGrid enabled pilot aware with live metar and weather radar.
Other Stuff
I reside in the seaside town of Shoeburyness with my wonderful partner in crime and most expensive of spices, Saffron and two flourishing daughters.
Other interests include underwater photography/video in far reaching, remote overseas locations and of course understanding anything within the observable universe.
