Members may have noticed that the UK LAA recently updated their initial December 2025 Mandatory Technical Directive regarding the optional tailplane torque-tube clamps (you may also have received an email from Europa Aircraft on the matter if you are subscribed to their email distribution list). The latest update of the LAA’s MTD document now appears on the Club website in the list, at:

Of particular note is the helpful Appendix 1 decision flowchart at the foot of the document, and that the MTD mandates the execution of Europa Service Bulletin 15 in checking for play and using Loctite to eliminate play. If you don’t have clamps, don’t assume your aircraft has had Loctite applied – check.
